Herer were have them saying this not being aware of Nichodemus, proving they boast. It's a bashful statement to make an enemy out of every one for no cause. "i cant believe you did that, now everyone is going to be mad,"The devils love this paly be cautious of it. Remember it, for it is used often.  Nicodemus is in Chapter 3 meeting Jesus in the night. 

John 7:47-49
